Terwijl de dag van de Internationale Samenzwering van 15 februari nadert, zet het initiatief “Vrijheid voor Abdullah Öcalan, politieke oplossing voor de Koerdische kwestie” zijn activiteiten voort. 115 personen, bestaande uit academici, schrijvers, kunstenaars en advocaten die in Duitsland wonen, schreven een brief aan de voorzitter van het Comité van Ministers van de Raad van Europa (ECEC), Xavier Bettel.
Bettel werd herinnerd aan het EVRM en de besluiten van het Comité van Ministers met betrekking tot de uitvoering van het recht op hoop. In de open brief wordt benadrukt dat de fysieke vrijheid van Öcalan moet worden gewaarborgd zodat hij een sleutelrol kan spelen in de zoektocht naar een oplossing voor de Koerdische kwestie. De brief drong er bij Bettel op aan om “concrete juridische, diplomatieke en politieke stappen te ondernemen voor de vrijlating van de heer Öcalan, aangezien dit nu de plicht is van het Comité van Ministers.”
